After the departure of our good friend Angelika Berns, we are delighted to introduce our new IONTACH member, Nick Wiseman-Ellis! Hailing from England, Nick studied music at Newcastle University and under the tutelage of musicians such as Kathryn Tickell and Karen Tweed, was awarded a 1st Class honours degree with focus on Accordion and Fiddle. We're thrilled that he will be joining us to take IONTACH into a new era.

We can't wait to receive our brand new CD "a new journey" from the pressing plant. You can purchase it in our web shop as soon as it arrives...

Welcome to the website of Iontach!

Iontach is a word from the Irish language meaning not only wonderful, but also strange…  Luckily press reviews at home and abroad have used the former when describing the music of this German and Irish trio! Iontach was formed in 2003. The colourful mixture of emotional harmony singing together with fine arrangements of lively dance music and lyrical melodies has become their trademark.  The wide range of instruments they play includes flute, fiddle, uilleann pipes, whistles, concertina, guitar, bouzouki, cello, keyboard and bodhrán.  This coupled with their warm, open and humorous stage presentation has resulted in Iontach being one of the most sought after Irish traditional bands in the German scene.

"Charming, endearing and virtousic: IONTACH!" (Weser Kurier)

world weariness
and hope: varied instrumentals and beautiful a-cappella-singing!" (Darmstädter Echo)

„Iontach: three wonderfully talented singers and musicians!"
(Hot Press, Irland)
